
M. Celeste Gonzalez Chaves is a new Lecturer in Spanish at Iowa State University. She received her MA in Spanish with a minor in English as a Second Language from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2006. She obtained her BA in Teaching English as a Second Language from the Instituto Terrero in Argentina in 2002.
Prior to coming to Ames, Celeste has taught a variety of Spanish courses at different levels in Nebraska, Northern Virginia, and Washington, DC. She was a Lecturer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she also served as Coordinator of several basic and intermediate courses and as judge at the University Language Fair. She was an Adjunct Instructor at Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. She taught Spanish courses in the 100s, 200s and 300s levels as Adjunct Instructor at American University in Washington, DC. In Virginia, she was employed by the Falls Church City Public Schools as Spanish Teacher for the basic course sequence as well as lead teacher in the A2 course of the International Baccalaureate. Celeste also worked for Communikids Language School as Spanish Teacher for young children ages 0 to 5 in Northern Virginia.
In her free time Celeste enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, travelling and horse riding.
